Frequently Asked Questions

What types of sinks can the magnetic holders be used for?

We have several different types of magnetic holders. We have holders for stainless steel sinks, one with extra strong magnets for sinks of composite material, and a flexible version for round and small sinks.

Steel Sinks

For ordinary steel sinks you can use our classic Dishcloth Holder which is available both in steel and a flexible PE plastic, which can be shaped according to the shape of the sink. Choose “Steel” in “Sink Type” when adding the magnetic holder to your basket

Composite Material Sinks

If your sink is made of composite material such as Silgranite, Blancogranite, Corian sinks, you need our magnetic holders with extra strong magnets. Choose “Special” in “Sink Type” when adding the magnetic holder to your basket.

Porcelain & Ceramic Sinks

Unfortunately, French porcelain sinks are very thick, and the holder does not work on these types of sinks as the magnets are not strong enough. However, there are some white sinks from IKEA that the special version can be used on.

Alternatively, you can use or dishtowel holder which comes with white metal plates that can be placed in the sink.

Round Sinks

We have designed the flexible dishcloth holder specifically for round washes. You can form the shape of the holder so it fits your sink and can also be used in a corner of a square sink. the flexible dishcloth holder is also a great option if you have a very small sink.

I have lost a counter magnet. Can I get a new one?

The counter magnets for our products are small but strong, and they can sometimes grab onto a screw or something else under the sink. They are designed with a tail shape, making it easier to grab, even if you can't see them. If you have lost a counter magnet, you can always order a new one on our website. Remember for next time, that the tail is intended for you to fasten it with the included stickers, so you are sure they will stay in place - even when you take your holder on and off your sink.

The sticker for the counter magnet does not work

Some sinks have a very rough back surface where the sticker can be difficult to fasten onto the surface. In that case, we recommend using good old-fashioned duct tape or some other type of heavy-duty adhesive.

Are the products rust-free?

The products are designed to be used in a sink and are therefore made of stainless steel or PE plastic which doesn’t rust.

Magnets are not stainless and are therefore covered with a protective layer. Be aware that the protective layer may become detached if you put it in the dishwasher and thus cause the magnet to rust.

Does the dishcloth holder / dish brush holder make marks in the sink?

The products are designed for use in the sink and the magnets are protected with a plastic wrap so that it does’t scratch your sink. You can safely use the products without making marks in your sink.

Complaints

It is important to us that our products meet your expectations as a customer. All our products have a 2-year warranty. If you have a complaint, write to us at shop@bymagnet.com and we will help you as best we can.

Can I wash the dishcloth holder / dish brush holder in the dishwasher?

No, magnets are not rust-free and are therefore made with a protective layer over them. They should not be washed in the dishwasher, as it may cause the protective layer on the magnet to loosen and the magnets to rust.

Why doesn't the metal plate stick to the wall?

Our metal plates come with strong glue that can be used on all types of surfaces.

It is important that the surface on which you want to apply it, is completely clean and dry before sticking the metal plates onto it. Be sure to thoroughly clean the surface and wait a few hours for the surface to dry completely before placing the adhesive metal plates. You can always order new ones on our website.
